2017 SAAS Fall Mania, Volleyball Fest: A Time for Celebration

September 28, 2017 – Seattle Academy celebrated our annual Fall Mania on Friday, September 15, with another huge turnout of family and friends celebrating the school’s fall athletes. There were nine soccer games and three Ultimate games taking place on four fields. Besides the twelve on-field contests, all other fall athletes, from cross country, golf, tennis, and volleyball, both Middle School and Upper School, were recognized at halftime on the stadium field. Over four hundred kids are participating in athletics this fall.

An added twist to this year’s event was the introduction of the “SAAS Village.” Setup in the center concourse at Starfire, the Village included booths with SAAS Logowear, the SAAS Parent Association, and a “Player of the Game” tent where pictures of the outstanding player in each game from both teams were taken and an award was given out.

It was another incredible Fall Mania,” said SAAS Athletic Director Cathy Schick.  “We’ve got a record twenty-five teams this fall, breaking the record set last year. The interest in our athletic program is amazing, and there was great energy by the entire SAAS community. We look forward to a very exciting and successful fall season.”

The fun continued with the annual Volleyball Fest this past Monday night. Taking place in the SAAS gym, the Cardinal community got a chance to see all seven SAAS volleyball teams in action.  The evening was topped off by the girls’ varsity team defeating Bear Creek in a very close, exciting match.

It was a great night for volleyball,” said Cathy. “We’ve got over ninety girls playing volleyball this fall. The program has really taken off.”  The varsity girls will next play at home on Monday, October 9, at 7 PM vs. Bush.

A big thank you to all our students, parent volunteers, faculty and staff volunteers, and to all our fans for making both Fall Mania and Volleyball Fest huge successes!
