A Busy SAAS Spring Postseason in Athletics!

May 9, 2017 – It’s May, which means postseason play in Seattle Academy athletics! The Cardinals will be represented in all six upper school sports.  Here is the list sport-by-sport:

Golf: PJ Colino ‘20, Curtis Herbolich ‘19, David King ‘19, Max Ray-Keil ‘19, Nils Watkins ’17, and Brynne Wicklund ’17 will all be participating in the boys’ and girls’ Bi-District Golf Tournament at Jackson Golf Course next Tuesday, May 16.  Top scorers advance to the state tournament on May 23 and 24.

Lacrosse: The boys’ lacrosse squad won the Metro League with a 11-2 record and received a bye into the state tournament. The Cardinals will play their quarterfinal game Saturday, May 20, at Washington Park at 6:30 PM against the winner of the Columbia River/North Kitsap game.

Soccer: The defending state champions boys’ soccer team will open up defense of their title this Thursday night at Interlake High School at 7 PM.  The Cardinals will take on Mt. Baker with the winner advancing to a winner-to-state game Saturday, May 13, against Sultan at Sultan High School at 11 AM. CLICK HERE to sign up for the fan bus.

Tennis: The Emerald City League tournament is this Friday and Saturday at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.  Sophia Escalona ‘19, Ingrid Fiebig ‘17, Sophie Ginsberg-Hayes ‘20, Penelope Owen ’19, Helen Ruckelshaus ’20, and Sofia Vladimir ’20 will all be vying to advance to the district tournament, which will also take place at Amy Yee, on Friday, May 19.

Track and Field: The Emerald City League Championship track and field meet is tomorrow at noon at West Seattle Stadium. SAAS will have thirty-nine boys and girls competing. Top times, throws, and jumps will advance to the Bi-District meet next Thursday, May 18, and Saturday, May 20, at Kings High School.

Ultimate: The girls’ Ultimate squad plays their final regular season game this Friday. The results of that game will determine where they begin their postseason play.
