April 20, 2017 – In May, Food Network will begin airing the second season of the Kids BBQ Championship, hosted by Eddie Jackson and Damaris Phillips, both winners of Food Network Star. This season includes Seattle Academy 7th grader Zoe Bishop. Zoe’s episode will air on Monday, May 22, at 8 PM.
Zoe‘s first love is soccer and Ultimate Frisbee. However, she also loves to cook and has been doing so since she was about 5 years old. Last summer she won a cooking contest at the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute in Coos Bay, Oregon. Whether it is making baked goods, preparing a gourmet dinner, or grilling up meat and vegetables on the BBQ – she is always game!
Zoe was selected from among hundreds of kids to compete in the second season of the Kids BBQ Championship. Six episodes were taped last month in Malibu, California. Zoe could tell you how she did, but she would have to marinate or BBQ you first! Food Network producers forbid contestants to talk about the contest until after it has aired. On the contest, Zoe would only say, “It was crazy, nerve-wracking and a lot of fun … It was a lot more intense than I thought it would be. I really wanted to do well and I was amazed at how each challenge went by so fast.”
You can sample the dishes Zoe made during the show by visiting http://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/kids-bbq-championship/ after her episode airs.
Congratulations to Zoe and her family! And check out her episode on May 22.
