Cunningham ’20 and Juno Shantz ’20 Named All-Valley in Softball; Cobb ’19 Named All-Metro in Baseball

Seattle Academy sophomores Serena Cunningham and Juno Shantz, playing softball for Garfield, were both named to the All-Valley 1st-Team. Serena playing shortstop, and Juno playing the outfield, helped lead Garfield to a perfect 18-0 regular season, including beating Holy Names and Bainbridge for the first time in school history. They finished 22-1 overall and have advanced to the Sea-King semifinals where they will play Bishop Blanchet tonight. The game is for seeding purposes only as they have already qualified for the state tournament which begins May 26 in Lacey, Washington.

SAAS junior Owen Cobb also had a banner year in baseball. Owen, a junior playing shortstop for Garfield, was named 1st-Team All-Metro. He led the Garfield team in batting average, slugging percentage, hits, triples, homers, RBIs, and stolen bases. Owen has verbally committed to play baseball at Stanford University.

Congratulations to Serena, Juno, and Owen for their great seasons!
