Purpose of Trip
This trip encourages and builds on the already existing support for and interest in the stage and theater that many SAAS students have by the time they are sophomores in high school.  It gives our kids who are interested in the performing arts an opportunity to see professionals both onstage and behind the scenes as they practice their craft at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  This trip also offers sophomores a chance to have some fun at Spring Break time in a way that also extends and plays to the significant emotional and academic growth that many of them experience in the second half of the 10th grade year.

April 2017 (Spring Days and the first day of Spring Break)

  • Monday 4/3: Travel to Ashland
  • Tuesday-Wednesday 4/4-4/5: Workshop/backstage tour/some free time and, of course, plays
  • Thursday 4/6: Travel to Seattle

Trip Sign-Up
Open sign up for 10th graders, with a student cap at 30.

Financial Aid
Some aid is available through the school trip financial aid budget.  Please notify Steve Retz when you apply if you will be seeking financial.  The financial aid form is available at the SAAS website and must be submitted to Erin Aitchison by Monday, October 31.

$550-$650 is the approximate cost
, and the final total will be dependent on the number of students who sign up.
The cost includes tickets for all plays, all theater-related activities, round-trip transportation, 3 nights of accommodation with a continental breakfast.
The cost DOES NOT include money for lunches and dinners.

Payment Schedule
Deposit of $200 due by Monday, October 31
Balance of $350-$450 (depending on final size of group) due by January 15

Refund Policy
Deposits are non-refundable after January 2, 2017 (90 days prior to trip departure)
Full payments are non-refundable after February 2, 2017 (60 days prior to trip departure)

Sign up Procedure
Students will be added to the sign up list when they turn in the following 3 items to Steve Retz:

  1. Permission slip and release form for the Travel and Education Exchange
  2. Ashland Permission/Release/Medical Consent form for SAAS
  3. A check made out to “SAAS” for $200 as a deposit for the trip (please include student’s name on the memo line of the check)
