White Clouds Trip 2018 (9th-11th Grades)

Trip Description: In the heart of the Sawtooth Mountains in beautiful central Idaho, our students will have the opportunity to backpack, camp, fly fish and help build trails as they take in the remarkable landscape. Over the course of 40 hours of community service, they will travel to daily wilderness restoration projects throughout the valley, camping at night near a stunning mountain lake. Following this five-day project, the students will choose between fly fishing lessons, rock climbing or mountain biking, connecting intimately with Idaho’s natural beauty.

On day nine, the group will reconvene at the Salmon River to launch a 75-mile rafting journey through the Frank Church Wilderness. Over six days on the river, the students will learn to row whitewater rafts, paddle inflatable kayaks, and how to “leave no trace.” Of course, they’ll also bask on sandy beaches and see wildlife in its natural environment, all in the second-deepest canyon in the continental United States.
