SAAS Middle School Holds Field Day

SAAS Middle School Holds Field Day

On Monday, May 15, 2017 the Seattle Academy Middle School celebrated the end of the school year with the first ever student-planned Field Day at Washington Park Playfield in the Arboretum. Throughout the school year, the 8th grade Seattle Academy Leadership Team (SALT) has supported school-wide initiatives and events as well as served our Middle School community in a major way. As a way to leave their mark as they prepare to move on to the Upper School, SALT asked to take the lead on planning a community-wide event to celebrate the end of another great year at SAAS. SALT handled logistics such as arranging transportation, ordering food, and planning activities for three hundred students and faculty! The event gave students and faculty time together outside the classroom to celebrate the school year, embrace the core values (respect, integrity, trust, and responsibility) of our school community, and have fun participating in a number of activities including:

• Arts and Crafts station
• Board games and card games
• Lacrosse (with a tennis ball – bring your stick and we will have extras!)
• Soccer
• Ultimate Frisbee
• Wiffle Ball
• Timed Partner Relay Course
• Water Balloon Toss
• Bocce Ball
• Spike Ball
• Ladder Ball
• KanJam

We look forward to our current SALT members passing the leadership torch to our incoming 8th graders and continuing to help make SAAS Middle School a fun, tight-knit, and inclusive community.
