Morrison ‘18 Named ECL Most Valuable Player; Three Others Honored

February 28, 2018 – Seattle Academy senior Allie Morrison, who earlier this season broke the school record for career assists and rebounds, was named the Most Valuable Player of the Emerald City League (ECL).

Also honored were sophomore Florette Cederstrand who, along with Allie, was named to the All-ECL First Team. Sophomore Ingrid Odmark was named All-ECL Second Team. On the boys’ side, freshman Leo DeBruhl was named First Team All-ECL and ECL Rookie-of-the-Year.

“It’s great to see Allie, Florette, Ingrid, and Leo being recognized for their great seasons; their selections are well deserved,” said Seattle Academy Athletic Director Cathy Schick. “And with Allie being the only senior of the four, both the boys’ and girls’ teams have a bright future.”

Allie, a four-year varsity player, was named All-ECL First Team all four years.  In her four-year career, Seattle Academy won the ECL Championship every year and lost just one league game (62-1), that included a 55 game winning streak.

“Allie Morrison should be considered as one of the greatest players to ever play at SAAS,” said Cardinals Head Coach Joel DeBruhl.  “And for as great of a player as Allie is, she is an even better teammate. In thirty years of coaching, I have never coached anyone as unselfish or as caring for her teammates as Allie. Allie has not just made a mark in her time at SAAS, but has also set a high bar for future SAAS athletes to aspire to!”

Florette, who was named Rookie-of-the-Year last year, and Ingrid were both honored on All-League teams for the first time.

Leo led Seattle Academy in both scoring and assists.  He is the first freshman to be honored 1st-Team All-ECL in over ten years.

Congratulations to all four players!
