ADMINISTRATIVE AND STAFF POSITIONS

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT (posted July 30, 2018)
SEATTLE ACADEMY is seeking a team member who will provide anticipatory, professional, responsive and culturally appropriate administrative partnership and support to our Head of School, Senior Leadership Team, and Board of Directors. This is an integral role in support of the strategies and activities of our vibrant, innovative educational community in support of our mission of preparing kids for college and life. A successful candidate embraces the SAAS culture and thrives in a high-paced, student-centered environment and can work well independently, as well as, in teams. Confidentiality, being able to exercise sound judgement, ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and to balance projects with day-to-day activities are key to fulfilling this role.

Meeting management: This role prepares agendas, meeting content and presentations; communicates with and coordinates attendees; takes and distributes meeting minutes; arranges venue and supporting amenities; and follows up on progress of meeting action items of Senior Leadership, Senior Admin, Board and Board Committee meetings and others as assigned.

Coordination: Provides calendars management, appointment setting, travel arrangements, conference registration, expense report processing, and general support activities for the team.

Project Support: “Digs in” to research information needed for decision making, initiative and strategic planning activities, reporting, communication and/or presentations.

Communication: Is an active and compassionate listener; is able to navigate complex conversations with a culturally-appropriate tone and solution-oriented manner; drafts written leadership communication and de-escalates situations through a calm, thoughtful demeanor.

Administrative guidance: Oversees the front desk staff; provides leadership in administrative process improvements; supports enhanced use of technology, data and analytics; and mentors/develops those providing administrative support for our school.

In addition, experience of a successful candidate would include:

  • 5 years of experience providing administrative support to executive-level staff and board(s) of directors or a related combination of educational/admin experience required;
  • Experience leading an administrative support staff;
  • Excellence using technology (MS Office, Google apps, and/or presentation software);
  • Demonstrated verbal, visual, written and digital communication experience; and
  • Works well with diverse populations and working styles. Bi/multi-lingual skills are a plus.

DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT (posted August 3, 2018)
Seattle Academy is seeking a Director of Institutional Development who will provide visionary and strategic leadership for our vibrant, innovative educational community in support of our mission of preparing kids for college and life.

This development professional creates and executes development strategies, goals and road maps in support of the mission, strategies, programs and activities of Seattle Academy.

The successful candidate is a catalyst for developing and maintaining long-standing relationships with current and future SAAS community members and in facilitating meeting purposeful and impactful giving goals.

This team member will increase visibility of Seattle Academy’s unique and impactful educational experience. They will cultivate both internal and external stakeholders in order to implement and manage major gift development strategies, social impact investing opportunities and mission aligned campaigns. Integration of our community engagement vision is key to this role.

The ideal candidate must have extensive major gift fundraising expertise in a nonprofit organization, preferably in an educational setting, a proven track record of securing major gifts and stewarding donors, and the ability to effectively meet fundraising goals. This position requires an entrepreneurial spirit, agility and comfort working in a dynamic environment both independently and as part of a team.

Experience of a successful candidate would also include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in non-profit leadership, business, communications, marketing or applicable area of study;
  • 8 to 10 years of demonstrated strategic success in major gifts funding, working with senior-level community leaders, board members and granting foundations and corporations;
  • 6 years of more of positively managing people, budgets, programs and projects; and
  • Competence in analytics, reporting and data warehousing to inform donor retention and donor in aligning giving passions.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree and/or Marketing and Communication experience is a plus.

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING (posted July 30, 2018)
SEATTLE ACADEMY is seeking a marketing and communications team member who will provide visionary and strategic leadership for our vibrant, innovative educational community in support of our mission of preparing kids for college and life.

We rely on each other as informed SAAS community members. A successful candidate embraces the SAAS culture of story-telling and a commitment of openness to share information with our community in both celebratory and challenging times. The strength of our collective, informed community enables the energized and committed culture that has been part of Seattle Academy since its inception.

The Director of Marketing creates and executes communication strategies and road maps in support of the mission, strategies, and activities of Seattle Academy. Integration of our internal, external, digital, collateral, public relations, advertising, events, and community engagement components of marketing and communications is key to this role in engaging current and future SAAS community members.

The successful team member will increase visibility of Seattle Academy’s unique and impactful educational experience through culturally appropriate communication with a variety of diverse communities and in support of our community strategies.

Engagement with our internal and external community is central to this role so having comfort speaking, writing and advocating on behalf of our school is key.

A leader of the strategy, the team, projects, our vendor partners and a positive collaborator with our internal and external stakeholders is who we are seeking!

Experience of a successful candidate would include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Business, Marketing, or applicable area of study;
  • 8 years or more of demonstrated strategic success in Communication, Marketing or comparable roles;
  • 6 years or more of positively managing people and projects;
  • Demonstrated verbal, visual, written and digital expertise;
  • Experience working with translation and communication access tools. Bi/multi-lingual, ASL skills are a plus;
  • Works well with diverse populations and working styles; and
  • Experience working with Admissions, Development/Fundraising, and/or Advancement/Events (a plus).
