“One More Thing…” Changing Conversations to Stay Connected with Julie Metzger
September 27, 2016

6:30 PM Social, 7 PM Presentation
Arts Center

Conversations are the building blocks within a family to share ideas, sharpen our edges, build trust, problem-solve, gather information, and share our stories. Family communication can be intense and heated or spoken in whispers – they can last seconds or days – and end with a slammed door, a sigh, or a hug…each one shapes part of who we are as a family and as individuals.  Julie Metzger will give SAAS parents an opportunity to consider strategies to strengthen family communication with adolescents.

Julie Metzger, RN MN is a pediatric nurse, writer and educator.  For over 25 years she has worked with families of teens and pre-teens on topics of puberty, sexuality and decision-making.  She has shared her program Heart to Heart For Girls Only to tens of thousands of families sponsored by Seattle Children’s Hospital throughout the Puget Sound region, and by Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University throughout the Bay Area and featured in the New York Times and The TODAY show.

Julie has also written and presented health curriculums on decision-making and friendships for middle and high school students. She brings a wealth of knowledge from her experiences, is a well-respected and popular speaker on a wide range of parenting issues, worked in many capacities as a nurse consultant at Seattle Children’s Hospital and is a parent of 3 young adults.
