Seattle Academy Celebrates Basketball Class of 2018

February 2, 2018 – The Seattle Academy basketball senior class of 2018 celebrated their final regular season home appearance this week with victories by both the girls’ and boys’ varsity teams over Bear Creek.  Honored were senior girls Allie Morrison, Jillian Pendergast, Madison van der Veen, and Charlotte Zinda.  The boys had six graduating seniors:  Brook Geleta, Nick Heymann, Jeff Kodaseet, Miles Macklin, Jujaar Singh, and Grant Sorensen.

Speaking on this year’s class, Girls’ Varsity Coach Joel DeBruhl was mighty impressed.  “It’s a great class both on and off the court,” said Joel.  “Over the past four years we’ve lost just one league game.  All four of these girls have left their mark on this program and will be tremendously missed.”

“This group of seniors is very close and have left a legacy of brotherhood and friendship that will positively impact the program years after they are gone,” said Boys’ Varsity Coach Shaun Burl. “Their dedication to the game and to each other is remarkable. They will be missed. “

Also honored were senior team managers, Aaron Cohen, Ethan Hoover, Tessa Malone, Peter Springer, and Lily Staton.

“A big thank you to team managers Aaron, Ethan, Tessa, Lily, and Peter,” said SAAS Athletic Directory Cathy Schick. “Their dedication, loyalty, hard work, and contribution to the basketball program these past four years has been incredible.”

The girls’ varsity team has already qualified for postseason play, while the boys will look to qualify for the playoffs next week. Good luck to both squads and Go Cardinals!
