Seattle Academy Places Third in WA State Photography Competition

May 24, 2017 – SAAS recently placed third in the Washington State High School Photography Competition. This year’s competition included sixty-three schools with fifteen hundred students submitting 3,879 entries.

Three of our seniors have images that will be featured in the travelling exhibit (top three in each category) which will show in galleries across the state for the next year, ending up at the Seattle Art Museum in December.

  • Leah Weld ‘17 won second place in the “Portrait” category.
  • Ruby Colwell’ 17 won third place in the “Color” category.
  • Ingrid Fiebig ‘17 won third place in the “Documentary” category.
  • Ruby Colwell ’17 won fourth place in the “Portrait” category.
  • Charlotte Zinda ‘18 won fourth place in the “Landscape” category.

The awards ceremony and reception is open to the public. It will take place on June 1 from 7 – 9 PM at Museum Quality Framing, 428 Westlake Ave. N, 98109. Click here to see all the winners.

At the ceremony, 2 of our students received special additional awards:
• Leah Weld’s image was awarded the “Juror’s Choice”
• Ruby’s image was awarded the “Advisory Board Choice Award” and her image was used on the marking poster!
