Seattle Academy Director of College Advising Appointed to National Training Institute

October 2, 2017 – Melanie Reed, Seattle Academy’s Director of College Advising, has been invited to serve as a faculty member for the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS) Pre-Institute for New College Counselors. The Pre-Institute trains college counselors who are new to the profession, whether just starting out or “crossing over” from admissions. This small gathering of participants, led by seasoned ACCIS mentors including Melanie, focuses on essential skills, knowledge, and strategies for guiding families through the college search, learning about college options, and networking resources for continued professional growth. Throughout the year, Melanie and her co-faculty presenters from Breck School, Horace Mann School, and St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Memphis will lead monthly webinars on everything from college financing to college athletic recruiting for college counselors in their first two years of college advising work.

Congratulations to Melanie for national recognition and best wishes training the next wave of college counselors.
